In feng shui moving water is believed to bring prosperity and good fortune to the home. Aquariums and water fountains are excellent feng shui enhancements as they also bring with them a soothing yet energizing atmosphere.
Both the motion and the sound of gurgling water is believed to activate chi. In addition, it adds humidity to dry rooms, aiding in a restoration of chi. Moving water revives things when chi has been stagnating. Adopt the use of moving water cures in any place in which you wish to enhance wood or water energy.
Water fountains are available in a range of shapes and sizes; select one that:
Complements your current décor;
Is appropriate in size – it should not be too large or too small for the place in which you intend to install it;
Incorporates the materials, colors and shapes of all the element energies that you desire to add to that space.
A water fountain’s sound can be adjusted by altering the water level. Many fountains come with adjustable pumps so that the speed of water flow can be varied. Experiment until the correct volume and tone is found.
If a feng shui water fountain is placed by the front door, it will cause activation of kan gua (career). However, you must make sure that the water flows towards your front door rather than away from it. Good chi should be flowing into your life rather than out of it!
Ensure that you continue to replenish your fountain as the water contained in it evaporates. This will prevent your pump from becoming damaged as a result of low water levels. Depending on the climate in which you reside as well as the fountain size, you may be required to fill up your fountain once a day or once a week. If you are going to be away from your home for days at a time, unplug your fountain.
An aquarium is highly effective at increasing your luck and wealth. The ideal place in which to put an aquarium is in hsun (wealth) guas and kan (career), or near to your front door. Combine either eight orange colored fish with one black colored fish or eight black colored fish with one gold colored fish. If you want to use an aquarium to enhance your wealth, add a total of nine coins to your fish tank (choose a type of metal that will not react chemically and hence harm the fish).
Keep your aquarium immaculately clean. Stagnant water and filters clogged with algae will not prove beneficial to your fish or to your chi.
